COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team dropped a three-set decision on the road Friday night at Ohio State University (25-16, 25-14, 25-16).
Set 1 – The opening set began with Lees-McRae and Ohio State trading the first four points. With the score knotted up at two, the Buckeyes rattled off a 7-0 run to gain the lead for good as they went on to win the opening frame, 25-16. The Bobcats were able to get the Buckeye lead down to four at 12-8 but that was as close as they would come to the latter in the first frame.
Set 2 – Ohio State would keep things rolling in the second frame as it attacked at a .444 clip with a match-high 15 kills. With the Buckeye offense clicking well, the Bobcats trailed by as many as 11 points in the second set. That 11-point margin proved to be how much the Buckeyes would win by as they took the frame, 25-14.
Set 3 – The OSU offense would continue to click along well in the third. Searching for a way to generate points, the Bobcats picked up two of their three blocks on the night in the third set. Even with the infusion of points defensively, Lees-McRae ultimately fell to Ohio State in the third, 25-16.
Next up – The Bobcats will resume Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday when they pay a visit to Belmont Abbey College. First serve between the Bobcats and Crusaders is set for 7 p.m.
