BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team will return to action this week with three Conference Carolinas matches on tap. Lees-McRae will begin the week by traveling to Belmont Abbey on Tuesday before returning home to take on Emmanuel (GA) on Friday and Erskine on Saturday. Tuesday's and Friday's matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., while Saturday's contest is set for a 2 p.m. first serve.

Last time out – The Bobcats dropped a three-set decision on the road at Ohio State last Friday (25-16, 25-14, 25-16). With the loss, Lees-McRae's record moved to 2-14 on the 2019 season.

Picking up a key road win – In addition to its match at Ohio State, Lees-McRae also took on Alderson Broaddus last week. The Bobcats topped the Battlers in that contest in three sets (25-18, 25-21, 25-21) on their way to their second win of the season.

Senior moving up in career stats – With 17 kills last week against Alderson Broaddus and Ohio State, senior Hector Serviat now has 458 kills during his career as a Bobcat. Serviat's 458 kills rank ninth all-time in the history of the program. The Miami, Florida native needs just 39 more kills to move into eighth place on that list.

About the opponents – Lees-McRae's first opponent this week, Belmont Abbey, comes into Tuesday's match sporting a 9-7 record overall and a 4-5 mark within the conference. The Crusaders are led by Liam Maxwell, who is one of two players in the conference this season that is averaging over four kills per set.

Emmanuel enters this week's action with an overall record of 8-15 and a conference mark of 3-5. The top player for the Lions is Don Thompson. Thompson leads Conference Carolinas in not only kills (323) but also hitting percentage (.349).

Finally, Erskine comes into this week with a record of 5-15 overall and 3-8 within league action. The Flying Fleet, however, have been a different team away from home as just one of their wins has been away from Due West.

Series histories vs. opponents – Lees-McRae has already faced off against all three of its opponents this week in 2019. Belmont Abbey, which is 8-6 all-time against the Bobcats, beat Lees-McRae on its home floor in late January in five sets. The Bobcats fell in four sets to Emmanuel and Erskine earlier this season and they sport all-time records of 3-6 and 3-10 all-time against those specific programs.
