BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team will make its final road trip of the 2019 season Friday as it visits Limestone College in a Conference Carolinas matchup. First serve between the Bobcats and Saints is set for 7 p.m.
Last time out – Lees-McRae fell in three sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-21) to Erskine College last Saturday at Williams Gymnasium. The loss pushes Lees-McRae's record to 2-17 overall and 0-13 within conference play.
Closing March out with a win – The Bobcats will try to accomplish something Friday that the program has not been able to do since 2015. That feat is winning its final match in the month of March. One of Lees-McRae's two victories this season came earlier this month at Alderson Broaddus (25-18, 25-21, 25-21).
Woolslayer enters top 10 in digs – With a total of 19 digs last week in a trio of matches, junior Chris Woolslayer entered the top 10 all-time dig list in the program's history. Woolslayer, who has totaled 303 digs so far as a Bobcat, is just the ninth player ever to surpass the 300-dig plateau and the first since former Bobcat Keenan Freitas joined the club back in 2016. The Doylestown, Pennsylvania native needs just 14 more digs to move into eighth place on the list.
About Limestone – With just a couple weeks remaining in the regular season, Limestone is currently battling for the best seeding possible for the upcoming league tournament. Currently, the Saints sit in sixth place with a league record of 6-7 to go along with an overall record of 10-10. Furthermore, Limestone is currently riding a three-match losing skid with setbacks coming on the road at Mount Olive, Barton and Belmont Abbey.
Series History vs. Limestone – The Saints hold the lead in the all-time series against the Bobcats, 12-7. Limestone swept Lees-McRae earlier this season when the two teams matched up in Banner Elk (25-13, 25-23, 25-17). The Bobcats last knocked off the Saints was back on February 1, 2013 in four sets.
