Banner Elk, NC--Jose Chavira, from Smithfield, NC, has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) with Lees-McRae College in the sports of men's cross country and track and field.
Chavira, a standout athlete at South Johnston High School, received the MVP and Coaches award for Cross County in 2004-2005, as well as 2005-2006. In track he was the MVP in 05-06, the Coaches Award Winner in 04-05 as well as the most improved.
"Jose has a lot of potential to be a very good student-athlete for us," said Coach Craig McPhail. "We'll look for him to develop his talents both in the classroom and on the track and help us in our quest to get better every day."
Daniel is the son of Ramona Chavira.
Lees-McRae College is a four-year, coeducational college of liberal arts and sciences, located in the fame high country of Western North Carolina, near the base of Grandfather Mountain between the Beech and Sugar Ski Resorts.
