Men's Team Finishes Second at Citadel Invitational

Charleston, SC--Lees-McRae's men's cross country team finished second this past Saturday in The Citadel Invitational at James Island County Park in Charleston, SC. Leading the way was freshman Jon Bernal (Oakton, VA) as he ran his best time of the season with a mark of 27:51 over the 8k (5 mile course). He finished 4th in the DII race.

The Bobcats had a :55 second split between their 1-5 scorers and ran well as a pack. Junior Josh Blanc (Hope Mills, NC) had his best race of the season in a time of 28:11, good enough for a 5th place DII finish. Also posting a personal best time was Matt Barrett (Douglasville, GA) as he ran a time of 28:45 and finished 12th in the DII race.

"We have not been able to put together a race where all of the guys run well, but we are getting closer to understanding what it takes to race this distance and soon we are going to be able to show everyone how good we can be," said Coach Craig McPhail.

Next up for the Bobcats will be the 9th annual Bobcat Invite held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lees-McRae Athletic complex.
