Spartanburg, SC-- Lees-McRae's men's cross country team competed in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference Championship this past Saturday in Spartanburg, SC, hosted by Converse College. The men's team finished 4th in the 10 team race.

Chris Holstein (Middleburg, FL) was the top Bobcat as he finished 7th overall with a personal best time of 27:05, just two places out of freshman of the year honors. Also earning All-CVAC honors was junior Josh Blanc (Hope Mills, NC) as he finished 14th with a huge personal best time of 27:27 over the 8k (5 mile course).

"Chris and Josh really ran well today and put their heart on the line," said Coach Craig McPhail. "I was so proud of their performances."

Freshman Jon Bernal (Oakton, VA) finished two spots out of All-CVAC honors with a 17th place finish and personal best time of 27:37.

"We placed our top 7 guys in the top 37 and with five of them as freshmen, I think our future looks really good," McPhail said.

Another freshman Uriel Alberto (Winston-Salem, NC) continued his improvement on the season with a time of 28:39 almost three minutes better than his first race this season.

Next up for the Bobcats will be the NCAA DII Southeast Regional Race held at Wingate University Saturday Nov. 4th with the men running at 9:30 a.m.
