Monroe, NC--Lees-McRae's men's cross country team finished their season on a high note as they finished 6th in the NCAA Southeast Regional Meet. The Bobcats were ranked 10th in the region prior to the race and put together some strong performances lending hopes for a bright future.
Freshman Chris Holstein (Middleburg, FL) had the highest place finish with a 16th place overall finish, just one spot out of All-Region. He ran the 10k course in a time of 34:03 and was the 3rd freshman overall.
Another freshman with his best race of the year was Cody Beaman (Humble, TX) as he finished with a time of 34:39 and 28th place. Jon Bernal (Oakton, VA) was just behind Beaman with a 34:43 and 29th place.
"We are a freshmen dominated team and our future is very solid," said Coach Craig McPhail. "I think the guys understand the commitment and dedication they have to make in order to have the success they want to have."
The Bobcats will take some time off and begin training for the indoor track season which begins Saturday, December 2nd at Appalachian State University.
