NEW ORLEANS, LA--The Lees-McRae Bobcats men's cross country team sits in sixth place in the southeast region of NCAA Division II as announced by the US Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association. The Bobcats maintain sixth place for the third consecutive week.

The Bobcats opened the season ranked fourth in the southeast region prior to their opening meet at the Eye Opener Invitational. Martin's time placed him third amongst the 177 runner field and earned the 2005 Conference Runner of the Year his first Conference Runner of the Week award for the 2007 season. Sophomore Chris Holstein ran a personal best 26:53 over the 8K course to help pace the Bobcats, to the fifth place finish, bettering twelve other teams in the 17 team meet.

"We'll find out a lot about who we are and the training we have done recently this weekend as the guys have been working hard, chasing their goals these past couple of weeks," stated Head Coach Craig McPhail. "I am proud of their development and excited about our chances as we approach the major portion of our season."

The Bobcats will travel to Charleston, SC this weekend to participate in the Citadel Invitational.
