CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae College men's cross country team placed four runners in the top 200 at the Charlotte Cross Country Invitational on Friday, led by season-best performances from Sondre Thorbergsen (Tranoy, Norway) and Jared Lupton (Nampa, Idaho).
Thorgersen placed 112th with a season-best time of 26:53.1, as Tyler Dunn (Jasper, Ga.) and Craig Simpkins (Boiling Springs, S.C.) finished 126th and 130th, respectively, with times of 27:01.4 and 27:06.0. Lupton came in 167th with a time of 27:52.8, while Avery Mouton (Sneads Ferry, N.C.) finished 217th with a time of 29:20.4.
"Sondre did a great job today leading our men's team against some strong competition," said head coach Thomas Cason. "We will continue to work hard, and get our men's team ready for the next meet at App. State."
Lees-McRae returns to the trails on October 14 when the Bobcats travel to Boone, N.C. to take part in the ASU Blue Ridge Open at State Farm Fields.
