Bobcats turn in strong performance at Charlotte Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae College men's cross country team finished 10th out of competing NCAA Division II programs at the Charlotte Cross Country Invitational on Friday.

Lees-McRae placed 35th overall and 10th among NCAA II teams, totaling 1053 points. Jared Lupton (Nampa, Idaho) paced the Bobcats with a time of 29:56.34, as Dustin Rudisill (Dallas, N.C.) turned in a mark of 32:03.96. Nate Weston (Banner Elk, N.C.) posted a time of 33:08.61 in his debut with the Bobcat cross country team, while Jordan Meyer (Inman, S.C.) finished with a mark of 34:27.80. Zach Cummings (Duncan, S.C.) rounded out the finishers for the Bobcats with a time of 37:39.35.

King College turned in the top team performance among the NCAA Division II ranks, finishing 15th overall with 408 points. University of North Carolina Pembroke was second with 591 points, followed by Wingate University (631), Coker College (710), and Anderson University (751). Virginia Tech claimed the overall team title with 31 points, followed by Wake Forest University (80), Davidson College (138), Appalachian State University (149), and High Point University (154).

Lees-McRae returns to the trails on Friday, October 5 when the Bobcats travel to Concord, N.C. to participate in Belmont Abbey College's Conference Preview Meet.
