SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- Sophomore Cody McNeely and freshman Jamie Colon led their respective teams while the Lees-McRae cross country team participated in the Upstate Invitational Saturday morning in Spartanburg, S.C.
Colon (Acworth, Ga.) paced the women's side with a time of 21:48.53 in the 5K. Freshman teammate Alexandria Calma needed 22:20.26 to complete the course while Makayla Estep (Moravian Falls, N.C.) turned in a time of 23:10.27.
Georgia Tech won the team title with 33 points while North Florida (42) and Appalachian State (55) rounded out the top three. ASU's Tristin Van Ord won the individual title.
McNeely (Salisbury, N.C.) led the men's squad with a time of 28:13.92 while sophomore teammate Tyler Pauley (Independence, Va.) clocked a 28:29.99 in the 8K.
Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and North Florida took the top three places in the overall team race while GT's Jeremy Greenwald won the individual title.
Both teams return to action Oct. 17 when they take a short trip to Boone, N.C. to participate in the Appalachian State Invitational.
