HIGH POINT, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae men’s cross country team was selected to finish tied for seventh in the Conference Carolinas preseason coaches’ poll, the league office announced Friday morning.
The Bobcats will be led by senior Jordan Meyer (Boiling Springs, S.C.) while the squad sports six sophomores and a quartet of freshmen.
Sophomore Anthony Carroll (Stevensville, Md.) looks to impress again in 2014 after claiming two top-15 finishes in the 2013 campaign.
Teammate Tyler Pauley (Independence, Va.) seeks to build off of three top-40 finishes while Colby Shell (Wilkesboro, N.C.) looks to match his own success after finishing sixth at the Belmont Abbey Conference Carolina Preview Meet (Oct. 4, 2013).
LMC opens its season at the Buffalo Stampede in Johnson City, Tenn. (Sept. 5) before participating in four additional events before the Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championship in Concord, N.C. (Oct. 24).
Coach Ley Fletcher’s team claimed seventh in the conference championship last season.
Mount Olive was tabbed the preseason favorite while King received two first-place votes and claimed the second spot.
North Greenville, Pfeiffer and Belmont Abbey round-out the top-five.
Limestone sits sixth while LMC and Barton tied for seventh, respectively, while Erskine was tabbed ninth.
