Thompson paces LMC Cross Country at the Conference Carolinas Championships

BELMONT, N.C. – Sophomore Austin Thompson finished fifth to lead the Lees-McRae College men's cross country team to a second place finish at the Conference Carolinas Championships Friday. On the women's side, the Bobcats finished 10th.

Thompson notched a time of 26:46.17, which is his second-lowest time this season. Thompson owns five of the top 20 times in LMC Cross Country history. His time Friday ranks 12th on that list.

Jordyn Halvorsen posted the top time on the women's side for the Bobcats with a time of 27:11.16.

Mount Olive won both of the team titles and also had both individual champions as well. Freshman Leah Hanle won the women's race (22:29.87), while Pol Domenech-Ferrer took home the title for the men (26:22.63).

The Cross Country teams will be back in action Nov. 4-5 at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships in Montevallo, Ala.
