NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Lees-McRae College men's cross country team was ranked 10th in the Preseason USTFCCA Southeast Regional Rankings the organization announced Tuesday afternoon. It marks the first time the Bobcats have been included in the regional rankings in the preseason since 2010.

Earlier this week, Lees-McRae was tabbed in second place in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Poll after finishing second at the conference championships a season ago. The Bobcats have seven returning runners from last season, while welcoming five new athletes to the squad.

In the USTCCA regional poll itself, the Bobcats were one of two teams from Conference Carolinas with the other being defending conference and regional champion, Mount Olive. Among the other teams in the poll include four from the South Atlantic Conference and four from the Peach Belt.

The Bobcats will open their 2017 season with the Covered Bridge Open in Boone, N.C. on Sept. 1. The race is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
