Thompson paces LMC Cross Country at Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational

NEWTON, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs wrapped up their second races of the 2018 season Thursday night at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational. The Bobcats were led Thursday by senior Austin Thompson, who notched the 10th-best time in the history of LMC men's cross country with a time of 26:35.66.

As a group, the men's team posted an average time of 27:12. That mark was good enough for the Bobcats to finish sixth among an eight team field. As mentioned earlier, Thompson logged a top 10 time in LMC history. The senior from Cleveland, Georgia now owns six of the top 20 times in program history. On top of Thompson's success, Lees-McRae had five other runners finish within a minute of him. For the rest of times from the men's team click HERE.

In the women's race, the Bobcats finished sixth out of the six teams that competed Thursday. Two of the six teams, however, are Division I institutions. Senior Jordyn Halvorsen led Lees-McRae finishing 46th with a time of 21:44.20. For the rest of the results from the women's race, click HERE.

The Bobcats will be back in action next Friday when they compete at the UNC Asheville Invitational in Swannanoa, N.C.
