SWANNANOA, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country teams competed in their third races of the 2018 season Friday evening at the UNC Asheville Invitational. The men's team logged a trio of top-20 finishes on the day, while the women's team nearly trimmed a full minute off its average time from a week ago.
Men's Recap – As a unit the Bobcats finished fourth among the nine teams that took the course Friday. However, as mentioned earlier the team did have a trio of runners finish within the top 20 of the 73-runner field.
Much like he has throughout this season, Austin Thompson put forth the top time for the Bobcats finishing with mark of 27:31.57. Thompson's time, which placed him 11th on the day, was joined in the top 20 runner group by teammates Tristin Bertie (16th – 27:46.62) and Joshua Hall (18th – 27:53.28).
Women's Recap – The women's team, meanwhile, showed improvement in Friday's outing. The duo of Jordyn Halvorsen and Brianne Heard were the top point getters for the Bobcats on the day finishing 25th and 31st, respectively.
