BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs released their schedules for the upcoming 2019 campaign Wednesday afternoon. The Bobcats are scheduled to compete in seven races this fall with all but one occurring in the state of North Carolina.
Lees-McRae will begin its 2019 campaign by sending its teams to run at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational on September 6. Following their season-opener, the Bobcats will travel outside of their home state for the one and only time in the regular season as they head to Spartanburg to compete in the Eye Opener Invitational on September 13. Rounding out the month of September for the Bobcats will be races at Appalachian State (Sept. 21) and Queens University of Charlotte (Sept. 27).
After a two week break, the Bobcats will travel back to Charlotte on October 11 for the Royals Challenge for their final race of the regular season. 15 days later Lees-McRae will head Mount Olive for the Conference Carolinas Championships on October 26. Rounding out the schedule will be the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on November 9 in Wingate, North Carolina.
The Bobcats will look to build upon stellar performances from both teams from the 2018 season in 2019. The men's team has posted second place finishes at the conference meet in each of the past three seasons. The women's team, meanwhile, placed seventh at the league's championship last fall, which was its best finish since 2011.
