HICKORY, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs began their 2019 campaigns Friday evening at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational. Overall, five Bobcats finished in the upper half of their respective races.
The women's team was paced by its newest members Friday. The top six times were put forth by runners competing in their first collegiate races. Deanna Betzer paced these times with a mark of 21:27.25 in the 5k race, which placed her eighth in the 28-runner field.
The men's team, meanwhile, had three runners post top-10 finishes. Tristin Bertie finished fifth with a time of 27:09.25. Joshua Hall (27:24.81) and Andrew Ybarra (27:41.77) also had solid starts to their 2019 campaigns finishing seventh and ninth, respectively.
The Bobcats will be back in action next Friday (September 13) when they compete at the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C.
