GREENVILLE, S.C. – Lees-McRae College student-athlete Tristin Bertie was named the Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week by the league office on Monday.
"Tristin had a good start to the year at the L-R Invitational as he paced our team to a runner-up finish at the LR Invitational and a win over Carson Newman this past Friday in very hot, tough conditions with his fifth place finish," said LMC Head Coach Ley Fletcher. "I expect Tristin to continue to improve and become one of the elite runners in our conference this year."
Bertie turned in a strong performance to begin his junior season last Friday at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational. The Cleveland, Ga. native paced all Bobcat runners with a time of 27:09.25, which placed him fifth. Furthermore, Bertie was just a little over a minute behind the winner of the opening race of 2019.
Bertie and the rest of the Bobcats will return to action this Friday when they head to Spartanburg, S.C. to compete in the Eye Opener Invitational.
