BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs will return to action this Friday when they compete at the Queen City Invite in Charlotte. The women's 5k race will get things started at 5 p.m. with the men's 8k race to follow around 5:30 p.m.
Women's Preview – Through two races of the 2019 campaign, improvement has been evident across the board for the Bobcats. Seven runners have seen improvement from the team's first race back on September 6 to the team's second competition last Friday in Boone. Freshman Deanna Betzer has posted the top time for the Bobcats this fall coming in at 20:35.81. Senior Sarah Bowman showed the biggest improvement from the first race to the second as she shaved nearly three full minutes off of her time.
Men's Preview – The men's team, meanwhile, has been led by Tristin Bertie. Bertie has logged two of the top three times for the Bobcats this fall with the third time coming courtesy of Joshua Hall. Bertie was named the Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week after the team's opening race and holds two of the top 20 times in the history of the program.
