Cross Country closes out its season at the Southeast Regional

WINGATE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country teams wrapped up their 2019 seasons at the NCAA Southeast Regional Saturday morning in Wingate, North Carolina. The men's team placed 16th among the 24 teams that competed.

The lone runner from the women's team was freshman Deanna Betzer. Betzer closed out her freshman campaign with a time of 24:33.5 in the 6k race. Betzer, who finished 72nd among the 181 runners, posted the top time for the women's time in each of their races this season.

Looking deeper into the men's results, the Bobcats finished ahead of Mars Hill, Clayton State, King, Belmont Abbey, Newberry, Francis Marion, Lander and Young Harris. The top time by a Bobcat in the men's race came from senior Joshua Hall. Hall closed out his cross country career with a time of 34:18.0 in the 10k contest.

Both the men's and women's teams are set to return a wealth of experience for 2020. The Bobcats will lose just two seniors from the two teams in Hall and Sarah Bowman.
