NEW ORLEANS, La. – Sophomore Austin Thompson and the Lees-McRae College men’s cross country program were honored recently with academic honors from the USTFCCCA. Thompson was named to the All-Academic squad, while the men’s cross country squad was one of 115 men’s programs to earn All-Academic Team honors.
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Lees-McRae College Cross Country program wrapped up its 2016 season with an 11th place finish at the Southeast Regional in Montevallo, Ala. Saturday morning. It marked the best finish for the Bobcats in a regional since notching an eighth place finish in 2010.
BELMONT, N.C. – Sophomore Austin Thompson finished fifth to lead the Lees-McRae College men’s cross country team to a second place finish at the Conference Carolinas Championships Friday. On the women’s side, the Bobcats finished 10th.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country teams competed at the Royals Challenge Friday evening in Charlotte, N.C. The women finished 35th out of 40 teams that competed, while the men came in 23rd out of 39 squads.
BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The first episode of “Meet with Mister” was a success last week as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Keith “Mister” Jennings held his first athletic department town hall meeting in the Bobcat Club Film Room. Each month ‘Mister’ will bring in coaches and student-athletes to talk about various topics and help continue to promote the comradery of Lees-McRae athletics, but also the experience of intercollegiate athletics.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. --- Freshmen Austin Thompson and junior Cody McNeely posted top-20 all-time times in the Lees-McRae cross country record books while the teams participated at the Asheville XC Carnival Saturday morning in Asheville, N.C.
HICKORY, N.C. --- Three Lees-McRae men’s cross country runners finished in the top 11 while the team finished second at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational at the Southside Park Friday evening in Hickory, N.C.
BOONE, N.C. --- Freshman Austin Thompson and sophomore Alexandria Flint led their respective squads while the Lees-McRae cross country teams participated in the Covered Bridge Run Friday evening in Boone, N.C.
HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College President Barry M. Buxton has been named vice president of NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas. The vice president serves on the executive committee and chairs the conference personnel committee, as well as acting on behalf of the conference when the president is unable to attend conference activities. Dr. Buxton will assume the role of president of Conference Carolinas at the conclusion of the 2016 spring conference meeting.
