  • Tristin Bertie named Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week

    GREENVILLE, S.C. – Lees-McRae College’s Tristin Bertie was named the Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week Monday afternoon by the league office. It marks the second time this season that Bertie has earned this honor with the first being back on September 9. Bertie joins former Bobcats Lewis Martin, Craig Simpkins and Austin Thompson as runners that have earned the league’s runner of the week honor multiple times during their respective careers at Lees-McRae.

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – After getting rained out of their last races, the Lees-McRae College cross country programs will be back in action on Friday at the Mountains to Sea Open hosted by Appalachian State in Boone, N.C. The women’s 5k race is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. with the men’s race to follow around 5:30 p.m. Both races will take place at the Don Kennedy Trails in Boone.

    GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College men’s cross country program was picked to finish fourth in the 2019 Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches’ Poll the league office announced Tuesday. In addition to the poll, the conference also announced that the trio of Tristin Bertie, Joshua Hall and Anton Ledell were named runners to watch for the Bobcats this fall.

    MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs put forth strong performances in the Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championships Saturday in Mount Olive, North Carolina. The men’s team finished second for the third consecutive season, while the women’s team posted its best finish at a conference meet since 2011 finishing seventh. Additionally, Brianne Heard, Austin Thompson and Tristin Bertie all earned All-Conference Carolinas honors after finishing in the top 15 of their respective races.

    HIGH POINT, N.C. – Five members of the Lees-McRae College men’s cross country team were named to the Academic All-Conference team the league office announced Thursday morning. Nolan Capps, Lane Graves, Shawn Graves, Joshua Hall and Austin Thompson were the five runners recognized with this honor from Lees-McRae. With their five honorees, the Bobcats had the most student-athletes honored among men’s cross country teams in the conference.
