HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men’s cross country team was picked to finish second in the annual Conference Carolinas Preseason Men’s Cross Country Coaches’ Poll on Thursday. Along with the team receiving the second place nod, the trio of Austin Thompson, Joshua Hall and Nolan Capps were all named as runners to watch for the Bobcats this season.
BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs released their 2018 schedules Thursday morning. The Bobcats are scheduled to compete in six races during their regular seasons before the Conference Carolinas Championship Meet and NCAA Division II Regional Meet in November.
The Lees-McRae College men’s cross country team and a pair of its student-athletes were recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) Friday for academic success. As a team, the Bobcats boasted a 3.16 team GPA last fall to earn All-Academic honors from the organization. Individually, both Austin Thompson and Nolan Capps earned All-Academic honors as well.
HIGH POINT, N.C. – 157 Lees-McRae College student-athletes were named to the 2017 Fall Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll on Thursday morning by the league office. Eight teams had 10 or more student-athletes honored with the men’s and women’s soccer squads leading the way with 19 and 18 honorees, respectively.
WINGATE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men’s cross country team posted an 11th place finish out of 23 teams at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships Saturday morning in Wingate, N.C. LMC finished behind only Mount Olive, who finished first, among Conference Carolinas schools in the event.

The Bobcats check in 10th in the rankings behind just Mount Olive among Conference Carolinas institutions.
CONCORD, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs competed at the 2017 Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championships Friday afternoon in Concord, N.C. The men’s team finished second behind only Mount Olive, while the women’s squad placed ninth out of 10 teams.

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Seven members of the Lees-McRae College cross country programs have been named to the Academic All-Conference teams the league office announced Tuesday. Lane Graves, Shawn Graves, Brett Page and Austin Thompson were named to the squad from the men’s team, while Makayla Estep, Kaitlyn Gearing and Jordyn Halvorsen were named from the women’s team. The seven honorees was the most of any Conference Carolinas institution this season.
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country teams competed in their final races before the conference championships Saturday in Greenville, South Carolina. The men’s team finished ahead of five Conference Carolinas opponents en route to a fourth place finish, while the women’s squad finished ninth out of nine teams.
BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country teams will close out their regular seasons Saturday at the Gene Mullin Cross Country Invitational in Greenville, South Carolina. Both races will occur at Furman University’s golf course with the women’s race beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the men’s race following at 9 a.m.
WINGATE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs turned in strong performances Saturday morning at Wingate University’s Bulldog Stampede. The men’s team finished sixth among 15 teams, while the women’s squad placed 15th out of 19 schools.
BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country teams will travel to Wingate, N.C. Saturday to compete in the seventh annual Wingate University Bulldog Stampede. The women’s 6K race will begin at 9 a.m. with the men’s 10K race will follow at 9:45 a.m.
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College’s Austin Thompson was named the Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week Tuesday morning by the league office. Thompson is the first Bobcat to receive this honor since October 9, 2013 when Tyler Dunn earned the accolade.
BOONE, N.C. – Junior Austin Thompson paced all of Lees-McRae College’s cross country runners Saturday morning at the Mountain Sea Duals in Boone, N.C. Thompson ran a time of 26:58.48, which is the 19th-fastest time in program history. Overall, the men’s team finished eighth out of nine teams Saturday, while the women’s team was ninth out of nine squads competing.
BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs will travel to Boone, N.C. for the second time in three weeks on Saturday as they will compete in the Mountain to Sea Duals. Both races will take place at the State Farm fields/Kennedy trails course in Boone. The 5K women’s race will begin at 10 a.m. with the men’s race 8K race following at 10:35 a.m.
BOONE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs competed in the Covered Bridge Open Friday evening in Boone, N.C. The men’s squad finished 9th out of 12 teams, while the women’s team was 12th out 12 squads out of a field made up of Division I and II programs.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Lees-McRae College Cross Country program wrapped up its 2016 season with an 11th place finish at the Southeast Regional in Montevallo, Ala. Saturday morning. It marked the best finish for the Bobcats in a regional since notching an eighth place finish in 2010.
BELMONT, N.C. – Sophomore Austin Thompson finished fifth to lead the Lees-McRae College men’s cross country team to a second place finish at the Conference Carolinas Championships Friday. On the women’s side, the Bobcats finished 10th.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country teams competed at the Royals Challenge Friday evening in Charlotte, N.C. The women finished 35th out of 40 teams that competed, while the men came in 23rd out of 39 squads.
BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The first episode of “Meet with Mister” was a success last week as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Keith “Mister” Jennings held his first athletic department town hall meeting in the Bobcat Club Film Room. Each month ‘Mister’ will bring in coaches and student-athletes to talk about various topics and help continue to promote the comradery of Lees-McRae athletics, but also the experience of intercollegiate athletics.
