Dodson Throws First No Hitter in School History

MISENHEIMER, NC - Amanda Dodson had a historic afternoon Sunday, throwing the first no-hitter in Lees-McRae softball history, leading the Lady Bobcats over Pfeiffer University 4-0. The Lady Bobcats defeated the Falcons 3-2 in the second game of the Conference Carolinas doubleheader, improving to 16-18, (6-12 Conference Carolinas) in the process. The losses drop the Falcons record to 20-19, (6-8).

Dodson, a sophomore from Walnut Cove, NC, threw three strikeouts in her first career collegiate no-hitter, walking just three of the 24 batters she faced. A second team All Conference selection a year ago, Dodson helped her cause at the plate going 1-4 with a double and scoring a run. Salle' Horner went 1-2 at the dish, her only hit being a home run while teammate Magen West also knocked one out going 1-3 at the plate.

In the second game, West went eight innings to get the win, giving up four hits and striking out one, once again going 1-3 at the plate. The pair of wins snapped a three game losing skid for the Lady Bobcats who are looking to build momentum for strong finish with their final eight games of the regular season at home.

The Lady Bobcats will resume action Tuesday April 8th when Conference Carolinas foe St. Andrews Presbyterian College comes to Banner Elk. Game times are set for 3:00pm and 5:00pm.
