Ollier Added to Bobcats Line-Up

Banner Elk, N.C.--Veronica Ollier recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball at Lees-McRae College for this upcoming softball season (2008-2009). The sophomore from Chula Vista, California played outfield last year at San Diego City College after playing short stop at Castle Park High School where she batted lead off for the Lady Trojans.

A slapper, known for her aggressive baserunning, Veronica has stolen over 70 bases this summer for her travel team, the San Diego Legacy. The SD Legacy is coached by Dave George, who was instrumental in Veronica's success this summer by teaching her how to slap and by encouraging freedom on the basepaths.

A quote taken from an April 27, 2007 article in the LaPrensa San Diego Newspaper suggests that Veronica has more to offer a team than just an athletic role. "Veronica is a team captain, a leader and a motivator," according to her (high school) coach, Angela Yuhas.

Head coach for the Bobcats Julie Kennedy could not be more thrilled. "We are fortunate that God led us to Veronica Ollier. We are thankful that her parents encouraged her to follow her dreams and that her coaches have prepared her so well for competition at the next level."
