Yackey Signs Nine For 2010-2011 Softball Squad

BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Lees-McRae College head softball coach, Merritt Yackey, has announced the signing of nine incoming players for the 2011 Lady Bobcats' season.

"I am truly excited with the incoming players enrolling at Lees-McRae and joining our softball program," Yackey said. "They will have an immediate impact on our season and future success. Their strengths and skills will make us a better all around team in many areas: dramatically increase our depth at the pitching position, increase our team speed, provide solid defensive support, and create more competition in practice. Several of them come from high school programs that have experienced tremendous success at their respective state tournaments. Our competitive presence and abilities have improved."

Alison Armstrong is a freshman from Bellingham, Mass. She is a catcher from Bellingham High School where she took her team to the state semi-finals in 2010.

Hollie Crickenberger is a freshman from Boydton, Va. She is a pitcher and outfielder from Bluestone High School.

Lori Fulmer is a freshman from Prosperity, S.C. and Mid-Carolina High School. Fulmer can play both middle infield position.

Laurel Gregg is a sophomore transfer from Appalachian State University. She was an All-State pitcher from Madison County who had over 1,000 strike outs in her high school career. Gregg can also play shortstop.

Lindsey Huntsinger is also a junior transfer from ASU. Huntsinger can play shortstop and third base. She is a product of TC Robeson High School in Asheville, N.C. where she was second in the state for home runs during her career.

Courtney Isaacs is a freshman from Mt. Airy, N.C. where attended Mt. Airy High School. Isaacs is also a member of the Lees-McRae cycling team.

Lauren Kittleson is freshman from Wilmington, N. C. and from New Hanover High School. Kittleson is a pitcher and first baseman.

Karli Robb is a freshman from Hayes, Va. and Gloucester High School. She can also play both positions up the middle.

Jessica Smith is a freshman from Gastonia, N.C. and from Forestview High School. She is a short stop.
