Huntsinger nabs second straight Conference Carolinas Player of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. --- For the second straight week, Lees-McRae College junior Lindsey Huntsinger (Asheville, N.C.) has been named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week, announced league officials Tuesday.
Huntsinger paced the Bobcats to a 3-3 worksheet last week, including a win over perennial NCAA Division II Southeast Region powerhouse Carson-Newman College. The junior third baseman put together a tremendous performance in the night cap against Carson-Newman, going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and two runs scored to lead the Bobcats to a 13-6 victory.
The Asheville, N.C. native added to her week with a 4-for-7 performance in Sunday's doubleheader against Mount Olive, clubbing two home runs while driving in five runs and tallying three runs scored. For the week, Huntsinger tallied 10 hits in 16 at-bats while notching three home runs and nine RBI.
Huntsinger currently leads the conference in batting average (.633), hits (19), doubles (three), home runs (four), and RBI (15), while posting a slugging percentage of 1.200 to date. The Bobcats stand at 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Lees-McRae returns to the diamond on Tuesday, Feb. 22 when the Bobcats travel to Harrogate, Tenn. for a non-conference doubleheader against Lincoln Memorial University. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
