INDIANAPOLIS --- The Lees-McRae College softball team is ranked among the nation's leaders in 11 individual and team categories in the first installment of this year's NCAA Division II softball statistics, announced NCAA officials Wednesday.
The Bobcats (13-18, 1-1 Conference Carolinas) have already surpassed their win total from last season, entering the week ranked 53rd in stolen bases per game (1.52) and 95th in home runs per contest (0.59). Junior Lindsey Huntsinger (Asheville, N.C.) has been the cornerstone of the Bobcat lineup for much of the season, entering the week ranked 33rd in home runs (7.0), and 58th in both slugging percentage (0.753) and on base percentage (0.463).
Freshman Karli Robb (Hayes, Va.) is ranked among the nation's leaders in several categories, entering the week ranked 15th in total triples (3.0) and 46th in triples per game (0.1). The 5-5 second baseman is also listed 50th in sacrifice hits per game (0.24). Senior Magen West (Whitney, Texas) is ranked 65th in walks allowed per seven innings (1.62), while Laurel Gregg (Mars Hill, N.C.) is listed 74th in total strikeouts (66.0).
Lees-McRae returns to the diamond on Thursday when the Bobcats host Limestone College in their conference home opener at 3 p.m. at the Bobcat Softball Field.
