HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College senior Paige Coleman (Thomasville, N.C.) has been named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week for the first time this season after leading the Bobcats to a 3-1 record in league play last week, announced conference officials on Tuesday.
Coleman is the third Bobcat to earn the league's weekly honors this season, joining week six winner Kim Coley (Marion, N.C.) and two-time honoree Lindsey Huntsinger (Asheville, N.C.). The senior paced the Bobcats to a 3-3 worksheet last week, including a 3-1 record in Conference Carolinas play to vault into a tie for second-place in the league standings.
The Thomasville, N.C. native opened the week with a 3-for-7 day against North Greenville, driving in three runs, including a two-run home run in game two. She followed with an RBI single against Limestone to drive in the Bobcats' first run in a 7-4 victory.
Coleman then capped the week with a 4-for-7 day against Pfeiffer, driving in four runs in a doubleheader sweep. She drove in three runs in game one with the go-ahead two-run single in the third before launching a solo home run in the fifth. The senior catcher capped the day with an RBI single in the night cap.
Lees-McRae returns to the diamond on Friday when the Bobcats travel to Belmont, N.C. to take on Belmont Abbey College in a conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
