HARTSVILLE, S.C. --- The Lees-McRae softball team cranked out three homers in game one despite losing 6-5 to Bloomsburg before using five runs in the seventh to defeat Coker, 5-4, in game two at the Coker Spring Tournament Sunday at Byerly park in Hartsville, S.C.

The Huskies (2-1) bashed out four extra base hits while T. Parker drove in three runs. The Bobcats (1-12) scored all of their runs in the last two innings while all the homeruns were off the bats of freshmen.
BU staked itself to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after a leadoff double and a sacrifice fly two batters later.
The Huskies swatted a pair of dingers in the bottom of the fifth, including a three-run blast from Parker. E. Mayhew recorded a RBI single in the frame.
Freshman Kara Cunningham (Indian Trail, N.C.) blasted her first collegiate tater in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to five, 6-1.
LMC put the next two runners on via singles, but was unable to push across any runs.
The Bobcats exploded for four runs in the seventh, all coming with two outs.
Junior Sarah Stallings (Greensboro, N.C.) drew a two-out walk before Cunningham reached on an error.
Freshman Emily Merriam (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) cranked a three-run shot to center.
LMC's Noel Cassidy (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) made it back-to-back style with a solo shot.
The Bobcats were unable to complete the rally after a strike out ended the contest.
Kasey Klutz (Leland, N.C.) recorded her first collegiate hit with a single in the fifth.
Cunningham (0-7) took the loss after allowing five runs in 4.1 innings of work.

The Bobcats (2-12) rallied for the win with five-spot in the seventh while Taylor Billings (Sophia, N.C.) (1-1) earned the win with 4.1 innings of shutout ball. The Cobras (8-7-1) was only able to muster four hits.
Both pitchers cruised through the first two innings, allowing two base runners combined.
Coker used a walk, hit batsman and a single to load the bases with two outs in the third. Riley Morris hit a grand slam to center following Mindy North's single.
Down 4-0, Cassidy roped a leadoff double to right. Two batters later, sophomore Sarah Tucker (Monroe, N.C.) drove her in with a run-scoring single.
Junior Sarah Beth Ashley (Walkertown, N.C.) drew a bases loaded walk to cut the deficit to two, 4-2.
Klutz carried her momentum from game one and tied the contest at four with a two-run double to left.
Cunningham drove in the go-ahead run with a sharply hit groundout to short.
Billings buckled down and worked around a two-out runner to seal the victory.
The Bobcats open a busy March with a doubleheader at Lenoir-Rhyne Thursday, March 3 at 2:30 p.m. in Hickory, N.C.
