CLERMONT, Fla. --- Junior Taylor Billings bashed out three hits in game two, but the Lees-McRae softball team dropped two contests at The Spring Games Thursday at Hancock Park in Clermont, Fla.
California (Pa.) 9, Lees-McRae 0 (6 Innings)
The Vulcans improved to 13-1 after amassing 12 hits. The Bobcats dropped to 4-17.
Both offenses were held in check through the first three innings and were scoreless.
CALU plated four runs in the top of the fourth, while three of them were unearned.
The Vulcans put the game out of reach with five more in the sixth.
Junior Charlie Dutton (Monroe, Ga.) (1-5) suffered the loss after allowing only one earned run in 3.2 innings of work.
West Liberty 6, Lees-McRae 5 (8 Innings)
The Hilltoppers (5-11) scored all of their runs after the fifth innings. The Bobcats (4-18) saw all but one starter record a hit in the contest.
Billings (Sophia, Ga.) was dominate early and didn't allow a hit in the first 3.2 innings of work.
LMC jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third after amassing six hits.
McRary and Tucker reached via singles. Sophomore Kara Travis (Conover, N.C.) drove in a run with a RBI groundout.
Freshman Kasey Klutz (Leland, N.C.) blasted her first career home run to left center, extending the lead to 3-0.
Billings doubled to left to lead off the sixth and would score on a sacrifice fly from McRary.
WLU cut the deficit to two with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth. Nicki Mihalik tapped home after a single and fielding error.
Savanna Sieger scored following a double from Damia Mogielski.
Travis scored in the top of the seventh on a wild pitch, 5-2.
The Hilltoppers rallied in the bottom of the seventh with three runs.
Sydney Bennington drove in Kelsi Johnson with a run-scoring single to center.
Mihalik tied it with a two-run double to right.
WLU walked off in the bottom of the eighth on a Bobcat error.
