HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lees-McRae College softball team dropped a pair of games to Lincoln Memorial Wednesday on the road by scores of 6-2 and 1-0. The losses move LMC's record to 0-8 on the season.
Game 1: Lees-McRae got the scoring started in the top of the second with a solo home run from Noel Cassidy. The long ball marked the first home run of the season for Cassidy and the third of her career. Lincoln Memorial answered, however, with six runs on four hits in the bottom half of the fourth to take the lead for good as it went on to win game one, 6-2.
Kara Cunningham led LMC going 2-for-3 with a run scored in game one. Kirsten Doss drove in the Bobcats' other run with a RBI double in the sixth. In the circle, Charlie Dutton was tagged with the loss after allowing six runs on four hits. Dutton's record moves to 0-3 with the loss.
Game 2: Cunningham started in the circle for the Bobcats in game two and allowed just one hit in her second complete game effort of the season. Despite the stellar performance by Cunningham, the Railsplitters were able to scratch across a run in the fourth to edge out a 1-0 win.
Next Up: The Bobcats will head to the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne Friday for a pair of non-conference games. LMC will take on Johnson C. Smith at 4 p.m. before taking on Mercyhurst at 6 p.m.
