BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team will hit the road for a pair of Conference Carolinas doubleheaders this weekend as it travels to Erskine Saturday and Emmanuel (GA) Sunday. The start time for both days' action is slated for 1 p.m.
Last Time Out – Lees-McRae opened conference play last Saturday with a pair of losses at Limestone. The Saints won the first game 5-0 and followed that up with a 9-1 victory in five innings to complete the sweep. The losses moved LMC's record to 8-18 on the season.
Count on Cunningham – Sophomore Kara Cunningham has had a solid start to her second season as a Bobcat. Cunningham has not only been LMC's top pitcher with a record of 4-5 with a 3.45 ERA but she also leads the team with 25 hits.
Steady Starters – Sarah Tucker and Noel Cassidy have started every game at third base and catcher for the Bobcats this season. The duo has combined for a .258 batting average with two home runs and 21 RBI. Between Tucker and Cassidy, they have totaled 15 extra base hits and scored 18 runs as well.
Snapping a Skid – LMC is currently on a six-game losing streak. It marks the second time this season that the Bobcats have dropped six straight games. LMC hopes it is much like the first time where it reeled off five straight wins following the skid.
Series Rewind – The Bobcats will look to continue their win streak over the Flying Fleet when the two teams match up Saturday. LMC won both games last year between the two teams. As for the series against the Lions, Emmanuel has won all four games against the two schools since joining the conference.
