BANNER ELK, N.C. – After playing the first 30 games of its season on the road, the Lees-McRae College softball team will make its debut on its home field this week with eight games over the span of six days beginning Tuesday. LMC will begin the week with a twin bill against Converse Tuesday before taking on Belmont Abbey Friday, Pfeiffer Saturday and Columbia (S.C.) on Sunday. The games on Tuesday and Saturday are set for a 1 p.m. first pitch, and the games on Friday and Sunday are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats picked up a pair of wins on Sunday defeating Emmanuel (GA) by scores of 10-5 and 3-1. The victories give the Bobcats 10 wins on the season, which match the program's win total from all of last season.
Rack up the K's – Lees-McRae matched a season-high striking out nine Emmanuel hitters in the first game last Sunday. Sophomore Kara Cunningham notched all nine strikeouts for the Bobcats moving her season total to 61, which ranks fourth in the conference.
Streaking Sophomore – Sophomore Emily Merriam is currently on a team-best four-game hitting streak. Merriam has collected six hits in 13 at-bats (.462 batting average) in those four games, which has bumped her batting average up to .362 this season.
Break out the Bats – A key in LMC's success this season has been its ability to produce offensively. In their wins, the Bobcats are hitting .362 but on the flip side in their losses they are hitting just .212.
Series Rewind – LMC split meetings against Converse and Belmont Abbey last season, while Pfeiffer won both meetings between the two schools. Lees-McRae last defeated the Falcons in the 2014 season. The matchup against Columbia (S.C.) Sunday will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.
