BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team will take on Conference Carolinas foe Southern Wesleyan in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Banner Elk. The doubleheader is set to begin at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out – LMC dropped a pair of games to No. 9 Pfeiffer last Saturday by scores of 2-1 and 8-3. With the losses, the LMC's record stands at 12-24 overall and 4-8 in conference play this season.
Catcher on a streak – LMC catcher Noel Cassidy is currently on a season-high nine-game hitting streak. It is the longest hitting streak for any Bobcat hitter so far this season. During the streak, Cassidy is hitting .419 with a triple and a pair of RBI.
Get the Lead – Most of Lees-McRae's success this season has been when it has gotten out to a lead. LMC is a perfect 7-0 it has the lead after four innings. In comparison, when the Bobcats are trailing after four frames, they hold a record of 2-22.
Home Field Advantage – Despite having a 2-4 record at home this season, the Bobcats have performed better statistically than they did in their previous road games. LMC is hitting .292 as a team at home compared to .250 on the road. The pitching staff has also done better boasting an ERA of 2.67 at home. That bumps up to 6.57 when LMC plays on the road.
Series Rewind – The Bobcats and Warriors split the two games they played last season. LMC won the first game by a score of 8-3, while SWU won game two, 4-0.
