BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team has a trio of Conference Carolinas doubleheaders this week. LMC will start the week with pair of games against King (TN) University at home before traveling Mount Olive Saturday and Barton Sunday. Tuesday's and Saturday's games will begin at 2 p.m., while Sunday's are scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats earned a split against Southern Wesleyan last Saturday at Avery County High School. LMC dropped the first game by a score of 5-3, but it rebounded to win game two by a score of 6-3.
Scoring Late – Lees-McRae has played its best this season late in games. In the sixth inning and later, the Bobcats are outscoring their opponents 50-34. In comparison, in the first five innings LMC has been outscored 184-80.
Going Yard – Freshman Caitlyn Ray blasted a pair of home runs Saturday against SWU. The pair of long balls are the first of Ray's collegiate career. Ray has been a consistent threat for extra-bases this season as she is tied for the team-lead in both doubles (8) and home runs (2).
Best Since… – LMC has won 13 games so far this season, which matches its best win total in a season since 2012. Lees-McRae has eight more games remaining in the regular season to try and improve this win total.
Series Rewind – The Bobcats will look to end long losing skids to both King and Mount Olive when the teams match up this week. LMC has not defeated King and Mount Olive since 2012 and 2011, respectively. Against Barton, however, the Bobcats earned a split in last season's meetings.
