BANNER ELK, N.C. – After battling wet weather over the past two weeks, the Lees-McRae College softball team hopes to get all three of its scheduled doubleheaders in this week. The Bobcats will travel to Anderson Tuesday before heading to Lander Saturday and USC Aiken Sunday. Tuesday's twin bill is scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m., while Saturday's and Sunday's contests are slated for 2 and 1 p.m. first pitches, respectively.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats were swept in a double dip last Friday at Lenoir-Rhyne by scores of 7-0 and 8-1. The pair of losses move LMC's record to 0-4 on the season.
Chelsea is a Conference Leader – Chelsea Digregorio has had a very good start to her second season in the green and gold. Digregorio not only leads the Bobcats in batting average but she also paces all Conference Carolinas players with an average of .750.
Strikeout Stat - Another Bobcat that is ranked highly in the league statistics in the early going is Kara Cunningham. Cunningham has already struck out 13 hitters in her two starts in the circle. The Indian Trail, N.C. native's 13 strikeouts are tied for the third-most in the league and just three shy of the conference lead in that category.
About the Opponents – Lees-McRae's three opponents this week have a combined record of 13-5 this spring. Anderson holds a mark of 5-1, Lander is 4-0 and USC Aiken's record sits at the .500 mark coming in at 4-4.
Series Histories vs. Opponents – Anderson is 9-1 all-time against the Bobcats with LMC's lone victory coming in 2016. Lees-McRae is 4-5 against Lander and 0-4 against USC Aiken. The Bobcats have not faced off against Lander and USC Aiken recently as the last time those programs matched up against LMC was in 2005 and 2002, respectively.
