Five Lees-McRae softball players named Academic All-Conference

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Five Lees-McRae College softball players were recognized Wednesday for their work in the classroom as they were named to the Academic All-Conference team by the league office. The five Bobcats to receive this honor were: Noel Cassidy, Kara Cunningham, Emily Merriam, Gabrielle Moyer and Caitlyn Ray.

The Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference teams are comprised of junior and senior student-athletes who have competed in a conference-sponsored sport and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution. The GPA is calculated based on the student-athlete's cumulative average through the previous semester and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year.

The Bobcats will be back in action this weekend when they compete at the Conference Carolinas Tournament in Burlington, North Carolina. Lees-McRae, which is the No. 5 seed for the tournament, will open play against No. 4 seed Mount Olive with an 11 a.m. contest on Friday morning.
