Softball heads to North Georgia to make its NCAA Tournament debut this week

INDIANAPOLIS - The Lees-McRae College softball team learned not only the destination but also its opponent for its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament Monday morning. The Bobcats, who earned the No. 8 seed in the Southeast Region, will make their NCAA Tournament debut Thursday at 4:30 p.m. when they will take on the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, Georgia.  

North Georgia, which is the region's top team and fifth-ranked team in the nation, and Lees-McRae will be joined in Dahlonega by fourth-seeded Coker College and fifth-seeded Young Harris College. These four teams will compete in a double elimination tournament that will take place on May 9-11. The winner of this weekend's regional will advance to the Super Regionals where the winner will face the victor of the other southeast regional bracket consisting of No. 2 Carson-Newman, No. 3 Lincoln Memorial, No. 6 Wingate and No. 7 Anderson.

All of the action will take place at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium in Dahlonega. Tickets are $10 daily for adults and $5 for students ages 8-17. Tournament passes are available for purchase as well for $25 (adults) and $10 (students). All tickets can be pre-purchased through UNGTickets.com.
