    BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae College senior pitcher Kara Cunningham threw her first career no-hitter in an 8-0 five-inning victory over Converse College in the opening game of the team’s final doubleheader of the regular season Thursday afternoon. The Bobcats completed the sweep of the Valkyries with a 5-2 victory in game two to close out their regular season with an overall record of 17-17 and 11-9 in league play.

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team split a pair of one-run decisions to Limestone College Tuesday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action. Lees-McRae came out on top in game one by a score of 1-0 before falling in game two in eight innings by an 8-7 final tally. The results Tuesday move Lees-McRae’s record to 15-17 overall and 9-9 within conference play this spring.

    BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Lees-McRae College softball team split a pair of games on the road at King University Saturday afternoon in Bristol, Tennessee. The Tornado edged the Bobcats 1-0 in game one before Lees-McRae rebounded to take game two, 5-1. The split pushes Lees-McRae’s 2019 record to 14-16 overall and 8-8 within conference action.
  • Bobcats prep for three conference doubleheaders in three days

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team will return to action this weekend three doubleheaders in three days. The Bobcats will begin this stretch by traveling to King (Tenn.) University on Saturday before returning home to host Limestone on Sunday and Converse on Monday. Saturday’s and Sunday’s games are set to get underway at 1 p.m., while Monday’s is scheduled for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
  • Faith Cooke named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week

    HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College softball player Faith Cooke was named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. Cooke becomes the first Bobcat to take home this honor since March 29, 2011 when former Bobcat Paige Coleman earned the same award.

First, Sunday’s doubleheader against Catawba has been cancelled and will not be made up. Additionally, the twin bill against Converse scheduled for Monday has been postponed with no make-up date announced as of yet.

The Bobcats came out on top in game one, 13-8, before dropping game two, 9-2. The results Saturday push Lees-McRae’s overall record to 13-15 overall and 7-7 within Conference Carolinas play.

    FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Lees-McRae College softball team picked up a split on the road at Emmanuel (GA) College Sunday afternoon. Lees-McRae fell in game one 4-3 in eight innings before bouncing back to game two, 6-5. Furthermore, senior Kara Cunningham became the program’s all-time strikeout leader with 11 strikeouts against the Lions bringing her career total to 434.

Lees-McRae started the day by knocking off Lander, 2-1, before upending Mars Hill, 8-4. The pair of wins push Lees-McRae’s record back to the .500 mark on the season at an even 5-5.

    GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team battled a pair of rain delays on its way to splitting a pair of games on day one of the Bearcat Round Robin Tournament Friday in Greenwood, South Carolina. Lees-McRae fell in its first game to Lander, 4-0, but rebounded to outlast Mars Hill in eight innings, 2-1. With the results Friday, the Bobcats move to 3-5 on the season.

  • Softball preps for a busy week with five doubleheaders scheduled

    BANNER ELK, N.C. – After being washed out of all its games last week, the Lees-McRae College softball team will have a busy seven days as it has five doubleheaders scheduled. Lees-McRae will begin the week by visiting Tusculum Tuesday before heading to Lander for a two-day four-game tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Bobcats will then play host to Lincoln Memorial on Sunday and then head to Wingate on Monday.

    HICKORY, N.C. - With the threat of possible inclement weather looming, the Lees-McRae College softball team has altered its game schedule for this weekend. Instead of playing four games against three different opponents on Saturday and Sunday, the Bobcats will take on only Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday afternoon in a traditional doubleheader. First pitch of that twin bill is set for 2 p.m.
