Women's Basketball Announces NLI Signing

Lees-McRae College women's basketball Head Coach Sebastian Wild is pleased to announce that Cassie Clements has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Lady Bobcats for the 2007-08 season. Wild, (pictured top left), will be entering his second season at the helm of the Lady Bobcats this fall.

"We are very excited about our first recruiting class that will join the Lees-McRae College family," stated Wild. "Cassie will be an integral part of our rebuilding efforts as we look to the Class of 2011 to set the foundation for a successful future in women's basketball here at Lees-McRae College."

With the loss of four seniors, First Team All-CVAC Dianca Jones, Amber Benfield, Amanda Huffaker, and team captain Taukia Hughes, the opportunity for the youthful Lady Bobcats to gain valuable experience will be present from the beginning of training camp.

A 5'10" guard out of Kellam High School, Clements averaged ten points and seven assists per game during her senior season. The Virginia Beach native is also a member of the Red-Tide AAU National team based out of Clarksville, TN. As a member of the Red Tide, Clements participated in the Nike Tournament Invitational while also earning an AAU State Championship.

"Cassie is capable of making an impact for us right away. She brings a tremendous work ethic and a unique skill set to our program," added Wild. "We are convinced that she will have an outstanding career here at Lees-McRae College as a Lady Bobcat."
