Wild Signs Point Guard for Fall 2007

Lees-McRae College women's basketball has signed Jennie Phelps to join the Bobcats for the 2007-2008 season. The Currituck High School graduate from Moyock, NC brings a welcomed point guard presence to LMC.

"Jennie is a leader on the court and that is something we are very excited about for next season. She sees the floor extremely well and can distribute the ball proficiently. Her knowledge of the game will help her tremendously as she develops into a great player here at LMC," said second year Head Coach Sebastian Wild, (pictured top left).

The 5'5" Phelps averaged 14.6 points-per-game 7.3 steals, 8 assists at Currituck High School her senior year. She earned North Eastern Carolina Conference All Conference Player and All Tournament Team honors. She was named team MVP while leading the team in scoring during her senior season. Jennie was also a part of the Boo Williams Red Tide Virginia State AAU Championship Team and averaged 17.3 points-per-game, 6 steals, and was 94% from the free throw line.

Jennie started her high-school basketball career at Millington Central High School in Millington, TN. She played for the Memphis Bobcats State Championship AAU team while in Memphis. After transferring to Currituck High School, Phelps led the school to its first state playoff appearance since 1994. Phelps is the second signee of Coach Wild's Class of 2011.
