Barton Tops Lady Bobcats

WILSON, NC--Kendra Thomas tossed in 18 points and pulled 12 rebounds on Barton's Senior Night Saturday to lead the Barton Lady Bulldogs over the visiting Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats, 81-48 in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action.

The Lady Bulldogs, winners of seven straight, improved to 16-7 overall and 14-4 in Conference Carolinas play while Lees-McRae now stands at 7-18 overall and 6-13 in the league. Casey Moore added 16 points and Sara Fleming finished with 10 for the Lady Bulldogs.

Renee Roberson (Salisbury, NC) led the visitors with 17 points while sister Brittany drained eleven.

Barton raced to a 35-23 halftime lead and was never challenged in the second half. Both teams shot 38 percent from the floor, but Barton got off 37 more shots because of 34 Lees-McRae turnovers and a 50-30 advantage in rebounding. Barton also outscored the Lady Bobcats 47-10 in points off turnovers.

The Lady Bobcats will hit the road for their final non-conference game of the season, traveling to Harrogate, TN to take on Lincoln Memorial University. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00pm Tuesday, February 26th.
