Casey Joins the Lees-McRae Women's Basketball Team

Banner Elk, N.C.--Lees-McRae's women's basketball coach Sebastian Wild announced the addition of Lauren Casey to the 2008-09 squad. Casey will join the Bobcats this coming fall after transfering from Lenoir-Rhyne College where she played her freshman and sophomore seasons.

At Division II Lenoir-Rhyne, the 5-foot-10 Casey appeared in 54 games and starting 18, averaging five points shooting 40% from the floor in the guard slot.

Casey a native of Raleigh, N.C. had a stellar high school career. Lettering three years at Leesville High School under Coach Jay Poole, Casey averaged 12 pts, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals. She was named to the 4A conference team, selected as team captain and team MVP. Casey was also named MVP of the Clayton News Star Christmas Tournament in 2006.

"Lauren is an intense competitor with an amazing work ethic. She will take our program to new heights and raise the level of expectations for our young team. With a large freshman class Casey will bring experience and leadership to the newcomers," stated Coach Wild.
