BRISTOL, Tenn. --- Four Lees-McRae women's basketball players scored in double figures, but the team dropped a 64-56 decision to Mars Hill in the SAC/Conference Carolinas Challenge Saturday afternoon at the Student Center Complex in Bristol, Tenn.
The Lions (1-1) used a 15-point performance from Camille Glymph off the bench while the team put up 44 points in the second half. The Bobcats (1-1) forced 14 turnovers while sophomore Niroska Perez (Asheville, N.C.) led both teams with five steals.
Truesdale led the Bobcats with eight rebounds while Belcher paced the team with 15 points.
The Bobcat defense stymied MHU by holding them without a field goal for over six minutes in the first half.
Glymph got rolling by connecting on a pair of three's to cut the deficit to three, 22-19, with 2:36 remaining.
Freshman Alex Anderson (Kingsport, Tenn.) hit a layup with six ticks on the clock to give Coach Michele Williams' squad a 28-20 advantage going into the break.
LMC sophomore Kelsey Wypych (Sevierville, Tenn.) pushed the Bobcat lead to 10, 38-28, following a layup at the 13:33 mark.
The Lions methodically rallied and used a 10-0 run and didn't allow an LMC point for 5:07 to tie it 38.
Anderson and sophomore Kathleen Casey (Gray, Tenn.) sank jumpers to keep it tied at 52 with 2:46 remaining in regulation.
MHU clamped down by hitting its final three field goals and six free-throw attempts to end the game on a 12-6 run.
LMC returns to action for its home opener Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m. to open its Conference Carolinas slate against Southern Wesleyan in Williams Gymnasium.
