LMC Women's Hoops Downed at Coker, 79-66

HARTSVILLE, S.C. --- Sophomore Kelsey Wypych tallied a season-high 13 points while three teammates registered double figures, but the Lees-McRae women's basketball fell on the road to Coker, 79-66, at the DeLoach Center Wednesday afternoon in Hartsville, S.C.

The Cobras (4-6) were led by a 17-point effort from Hailey Yohn while the team shot 65.2% in the second half. The Bobcats (3-7) dished out a season-high 23 rebounds while senior Kabrina Truesdale (Wilmington, N.C.) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Coach Michele Williams' team connected on a season-high nine three pointers and freshman Mackenzie Blankenship (Elizabethton, Tenn.) continued her hot stretch by amassing double figures for the fourth time in the last five contests.

LMC shot 51.6% in the final 20 minutes.

Coker jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead after knocking down three of its first five shots.

The Bobcats cut the deficit to two, 17-15, following an 8-3 run, capped off by a Wypych (Sevierville, Tenn.) triple.

Yohn connected on three consecutive three's while Sydney Shull earned a pair of assists, 26-18.

Junior Tayler Collins (Fayetteville, N.C.) used a layup with 38 seconds to go in the opening half to complete a quick 5-0 run.

Both squads drained a quintuple of three's in the opening stanza.

The Cobras' Tanesha Stenson dropped six of her 15 points in a span of less than minutes while Coker's lead ballooned to 15.

Blankenship sank a pair of triples to shave the deficit to 10, 51-41, with 11:02 left in regulation.

LMC hung tight thanks to five consecutive made field goals in the waning minutes.

Coker staved off the rally with clutch free-throw shooting and a big three from Kristmundsdottir.

The Bobcats wrapped up their nonconference portion of the season and will return to action Saturday, Jan. 3 at 4 p.m. to battle Barton.
