CENTRAL, S.C. --- Senior Kabrina Truesdale tallied a team-high 15 points and dished out eight assists, but a ferocious Lees-McRae women's basketball team comeback fell short in a Conference Carolinas game, 72-67, at Southern Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at Tysinger Gymnasium in Central, S.C.
The Warriors (6-5, 4-4 CC) had a pair of players with 17 points while Christiana Perkins dominated with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Bobcats (3-11, 2-6) forced 24 turnovers while shaving a 24-point deficit to five in the contest.
Sophomore Niroska Perez (Asheville, N.C.) has knocked down two or more three-pointers in all 10 contests she has played in.
Freshmen duo Mackenzie Blankenship (Elizabethton, Tenn.) and Autumn Bradshaw (Elizabethton, Tenn.) hit a pair of jumpers to cap off an 8-0 run to give Coach Michele Williams' team a 15-12 lead at the 10:39 mark.
The Warriors charged back, powered by 10 points from Brooke Strickland, to produce a 24-11 run.
Strickland and Chelsie Waters dropped 17 points each.
Strickland drained a three before a Perkins jumper gave SWU a commanding 44-28 lead at the break.
LMC freshman Olivia Unger (Lutz, Fla.) hit two of the Bobcats' four triples in a two-minute span midway through the second.
The Bobcats caught fire and connected on six-of-seven jumpers to fuel a 10-0 run, cutting the deficit to 10, 60-50.
Truesdale (Wilmington, N.C.) dropped five points in a 15-second span before a pair of Blankenship free throws put LMC down seven.
The senior splashed a three before sinking a free throw with two minutes remaining in regulation.
Senior Kerri Belcher (Roanoke, Va.) recorded three of her nine points before a Perez three cut it to four with seven seconds on the clock.
