TIGERVILLE, S.C. --- All five Lees-McRae starters' registered double figures and senior Kerri Belcher recorded a double-double while the women's basketball team handled North Greenville, 86-77, in a Conference Carolinas tilt Tuesday evening at Hayes Gymnasium in Tigerville, S.C.
The Bobcats (4-11, 3-6 CC) set a season-high mark in points while senior Kabrina Truesdale (Wilmington, N.C.) scored a team-high 21 points. The Crusaders (4-11, 2-6) saw Timisty Nelson and Courtney Williams produce double-doubles while forcing 20 turnovers.
LMC's Truesdale notched eight assists for the second consecutive game while sophomore Niroska Perez (Asheville, N.C.) recorded at least 12 points for the third time in the last four contests.
Coach Michele Williams' offense came out on a tear by knocking its first seven shots while a Belcher (Roanoke, Va.) jumper gave LMC a 14-4 lead early on.
Freshman Autumn Bradshaw (Elizabethton, Tenn.) and Truesdale splashed a three to spark an 8-0 run halfway through the first half.
Freshman Mackenzie Blankenship (Elizabethton, Tenn.) scored six consecutive points to extend LMC's lead to 15 before NGU's Erika Cobb and Cameron Carter connected on jumpers to close out the first half.
The Crusaders rallied in the second half and used a pair of threes to tie it at 53 at the 13:18 mark.
The contest would remain a see-saw battle until an 8-0 run from the Bobcats made it 75-66 with 5:36 remaining in regulation.
Junior Tayler Collins (Fayetteville, N.C.) grabbed a huge offensive board before Belcher hit a jumper moments later to keep the lead at nine.
LMC staved any rally attempt with efficient free throw shooting to claim the Bobcats second road win on the year.
Belcher finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds while Truesdale and Collins had nine boards each. Perez tallied 14 points while Collins and Blankenship had 12 each.
LMC welcomes Pfeiffer for a CC tilt Saturday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. in Williams Gymnasium.
