BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Sophomore Niroska Perez scored a season-high 23 points while sophomore Tayler Collins amassed a double-double while the Lees-McRae women's basketball ousted Pfeffier, 74-64, in a Conference Carolinas affair Saturday afternoon at Williams Gymnasium in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Bobcats (5-11, 4-6 CC) notched their second consecutive win while senior Kerri Belcher (Roanoke, Va.) dropped 15 points and Perez (Asheville, N.C.) drained five three-pointers. The Falcons (5-9, 4-6) were led by Carter Williams and Meg Pritchard, who combined for 13 of PU's 23 field goals.
LMC dominated the boards with a +9 advantage (41-32).
The first 10 minutes of the contest was a see-saw battle, but a Kayla Whitworth layup gave PU its largest lead of the day, 18-13.
Coach Michele Williams' defense clamped down and held the Falcons to one field goal over the next 4:16 while Collins (Fayetteville, N.C.) and Perez scored LMC's next 10 points, giving the Bobcats a slim 23-22 advantage.
LMC's tenacious D stepped up again and held PU without a point the final 5:06 of the first half while the team went 6-of-7 from the line in the final 1:42.
The Bobcats were nearly flawless from the charity stripe while knocking down 25-of-28.
Belcher chimed in with four points in a 56-second spurt while LMC stretched the lead to nine, 40-31.
PU's Dajea Scott tallied four of her seven points during a PU 13-4 run.
Freshman Autumn Bradshaw (Elizabethton, Tenn.) hit a three, sandwiched between a pair of triples from Perez, while LMC led 53-44.
Bradshaw scored a career-high eight points on the day.
A timely jumper from Kathleen Casey (Gray, Tenn.) and a Perez three all but sealed it while LMC took an eight-point lead with 2:08 left in regulation.
The Bobcats sunk their last seven free throws.
Collins finished 13 points and 10 boars while Bradshaw went 2-for-2 from behind the arc.
LMC welcomes Erskine for a CC tilt Monday, Jan. 19 at 5:30 p.m. in Williams Gymnasium.
