BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Senior Kabrina Truesdale exploded for a season-high 27 points, but the Lees-McRae women's basketball team fell to No. 4 Limestone, 77-51, in a Conference Carolinas battle Saturday afternoon at Williams Gymnasium in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Saints (20-1, 15-0 CC) proved their top-five worth while a quartet of players registered a dozen points or more and the defense caused 28 turnovers. The Bobcats (5-16, 4-11) knocked down six shots from long range while tallying 18 points in the paint.
Truesdale (Wilmington, N.C.) stuffed the stat book with five boards, four assists and five steals to accompany her 27 points.
Freshman Autumn Bradshaw (Elizabethton, Tenn.) gave LMC its lone lead of the day with a three, 30 seconds into the contest.
LC's defense clamped down and held the Bobcats scoreless for the next 8:26 while consecutive buckets from Maurissa Lester put the Saints up 23-3.
LC used a three from Jasmine Kearse with three seconds on the clock to take a 36-22 lead into the intermission.
Both teams splashed four three's in the first half.
Kearse finished with 13 points while teammate Ayshia McNeil led the team with 19.
Truesdale scored eight straight points for LMC, but a trio of triples from Kearse and McNeil stretched the lead to 25, 57-32.
The Saints' Alicia Brookins got into the mix with seven consecutive points. She finished the evening with 17.
Truesdale notched 11 of the Bobcats' 12 final points.
The Bobcats host King (Tenn.) Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 5:30 p.m. in Williams Gymnasium.
