DUE WEST, S.C. --- Sophomore Niroska Perez hit a trio of threes for the 10th time this season while the Lees-McRae women's basketball team was upended in Conference Carolinas action to Erskine, 71-52, Saturday evening at Belk Arena in Due West, S.C.
The Flying Fleet (13-10, 11-6 CC) had three players with at least 12 points while the defense forced 21 turnovers. The Bobcats (5-18, 4-13) saw freshman Caitlin Brown (Burns, N.C.) tally a career-high in points and rebounds (both eight).
EC's Kristin Giles and Ashley Espinosa tormented the Bobcat defense by combining for 16 points while the Flying Fleet took an early 18-5 advantage.
Espinosa led all scorers with 17 points. Giles finished with 12.
Perez (Asheville, N.C.) carried LMC's offense by knocking down all of her threes in the first 9:39 of the contest.
EC held the Bobcats without a field goal for the final 7:49 while taking a 32-16 lead into the intermission.
The Flying Fleet started the second half on a 9-0 run while Brown tallied the first five points of the half for LMC.
A trio of Bobcat freshmen scored seven consecutive points while EC held a comfortable 54-32 lead.
Truesdale finished the night with 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals while scoring LMC's final five points.
Junior Tayler Collins (Fayetteville, N.C.) stuffed two shots on the night.
The Bobcats welcome Emmanuel (Ga.) for a CC tilt Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 5:30 p.m. in Williams Gymnasium.
